EXPLAIN TWO REASONS WHY A FILM COMPANY WOULD RELEASE A VIDEO GAME LINKED TO A FILM

The following reasons why a film company would release a video games linked to a film.

The reason why a film company would release a video game linked to a film is because people who have watched the film will have a good idea and understanding on who the characters are and the main story line. This way children can enter this surreal world and feel one with the Lego characters.

They may also release it for more income. Older children seem to enjoy video games more than younger as they can understand it more. However with a good understanding over the movie it can make it more enjoyable for all year including teenagers who cant help themselves to video games.

Another way is spreading the word. when people play video games some record and put it onto youtube which can sometimes get a good amount of views. If a good amount of views is received than this could increase the numbers of not just movie sales but games sales as well.

How genre codes have been used in The Lego Movie poster campaign to appeal to a family audience.

Conventions:

The title of the movie is the biggest text on the poster reading The Lego Movie. This is in Lego itself, therefore emphasising anything and everything is made out of Lego. The word Lego is also in a different colour to show it isn't any ordinary movie its the Lego movie.

The tagline is 'The story of a nobody who saved everybody'. This flows and is easy to read. this is also an appealing title as  some children and adults who may think they do not have much impact in the world has the opportunity to 'save everybody' it targets average people such as me and you.

The central image is covered with bright colours to catch the eyes of not just children but adults. The image consists of popular characters such as The Green Lantern, Wonder Women, Batman, Superman etc. Some of the characters, even if not watched the movie can identify that Lord Business is most likely the bad person due to the red, which represents evil and the fire coming out of his head. The audience may be encouraged to watch this movie as there favourite film characters may be Superman for example.

There is some humour involved with the tagline such as 'The story of a nobody who saved everybody' shows that he was your average person like the me and you (the viewer) does have importance. therefore so the film can understand the average person and that the average person can achieve great heights such as 'saving everybody'

Lego is a activity where the whole family can get involved as there is no limit with how far your imagination can go and this is why consumers love the product. With families understanding the use of Lego they can then relate and have more of a sense of what is happening in the movie.

The poster does not seize to excite with explosions in the back, Superman flying on the right, a flying cube and Batman. Most people would be able to decipher who are the bad and good characters. Such as they will recognise Batman, Superman etc to be good guys however not so with Lord Business covered in red which represents evil and the use of fire (as stated above).

This poster has family friendly written all over it due to its fun colours, characters and sights in the poster. When walking past this poster it is not aimed to address people over the age of 12 (roughly when children start to grow up). However if you are a member of a family with an individual who is a child this would not shy to impress the child but the adults to with secret comical messages for the adults.

What i missed:
The action signified on main poster for example, big bright explosions to catch the eye, cars defying gravity to show that this film doesn't stay to the rules the everyday people live by. The villian is placed with significant characteristics such as red and a sharp helmet. Red i commonly represented as evil, this is shown in this poster followed by the movie.

Two uses of Blumer and Katzs theory in the Lego Movie Video Game

Blumer and Katzs theory in the Lego Movie Video Game

One of the uses of Blumer and Katzs is the relationship you and the game have. An example of this is the voice of Morgan Freeman and William Ferrell. Lord Business (who is voiced by Will Ferrell) and Vitruvias (who is voiced by Morgan Freeman) is presented very quickly in the game grasps the attention of adults who recognise there voice and who may of liked them in previous movies/TV they were in.

There are certain language the adults Lego Game mentions that will most likely fly over children's heads but may make the adults the chuckle. An example of this is when Lord Business mentions how this will reflect in there 'Performance evaluations'. Adults with a job will recognise this as they may be able to relate to it. One of the characters chosen at the beginning is Shake Spear adults may also recognise this.

Another use of Blumer and Katz is the feel of escapism. This game is very helpful to children who have had maybe a boring/rough/annoying day and want to escape from the reality that they are submerged in. This makes things possible that you are not able to do in the real world but able in the Lego world. Children and adults may be able to relate as they might have very strict parents or boss therefore representing Lord Business who seems to frown upon the use of creativity.

MOJO MAGAZINE - DAVID BOWE -

When the reader firsts set their eyes on the front cover of this magazine, they instantly know that this magazine was made by MOJO, this takes a big portion of the page up, even though they have placed David Bowie in front you are still clearly able to read the title. If the title however were in front of Mr Boweis face it would look wrong and unprofessional.  The other way big text is used on the front page is the main 'BOWIE' at the front of the magazine so the consumer instantly knows that this article is a bout David Bowie.

All around the magazine there are hints subconsciously to help the consumer to buy this product. An example of this is 'FREE CD!' this makes the consumer more vulnerable to buy the product as people find it very hard to ignore a deal, an example of this is black Friday sales. They have also used different colour to help the text stand out to the reader, and the rest of the page.

The choice of clothing that Mr Bowie is wearing is a very strong blue this contrasts well with the white to blue background and doesn't make it to harsh on the readers eyes when they first pick up the product. There seems to be an awful lot of things happening all over the magazine however they have kept the centre along with the main part of Mr Bowies body clear from text. This gives a clean look not only to Mr Bowie but for the magazine in total.
